candidate success story

Could you please introduce yourself and briefly describe your professional background?

Hi, I’m Vladimir Maksimovic, and I’ve been in the marketing world for about four years now. From solopreneurship and dropshipping to working with e-commerce businesses and startups, I’ve gained experience across various levels of digital marketing. My roles have spanned from email marketing and SEO to content creation and strategy development.

What initially attracted you to the role you were successfully hired for?

To be honest, what really caught my attention was the clarity of the job listing. It was precise, outlining the responsibilities and offering a clear vision of my role and potential growth within the company. The salary range was also transparent, which is something you don’t see very often, even in 2024

How did you get interested in remote work/working from home? What has been your experience working remotely?

Like many people, I started working remotely during the COVID, and I quickly got used to it. I love the freedom it gives me to work from anywhere—whether it’s from a village, a coworking space, a café, or just from home.

How did you find the recruitment process for this role? Anything that stood out?

I really enjoyed the interview process. Even though there were three rounds, each brought different questions and discussions that helped me assess if the role was the right fit. I appreciated the depth and insights it provided.

What stood out the most was Andrea’s deep understanding of marketing and the specific needs of the company, which made for a truly engaging and productive conversation.

What were the skills that you believe helped you ‘’make the cut’’?

I believe the fact that I’ve worked across multiple areas in marketing, and that I have a genuine interest in several aspects of it, has helped me stand out. I’m aiming to become a T-shaped marketer, while also focusing on specializing in a few key areas. On the other hand, I think my honesty and openness during the interviews also played a role. I believe in being straightforward because it helps determine if there’s a real match—professionally or otherwise.

Tell us a bit more about your current position. How would you summarize it and what are the main benefits and learnings?

I’m very satisfied with my current position. Everything is exactly as outlined in the job description, and even more. This year, the company launched a new brand, and being a part of that has been incredibly meaningful to me.

What skills have you improved the most?

I’d say I’ve learned a lot in areas like brand launching, copywriting, and SEO. I’ve also gained a broader understanding of business in general and the industry my company operates in, which I really enjoy.

What was the biggest challenge when transitioning to this role?

The biggest challenge was probably entering a new, demanding industry that some might consider boring. For me, though, it was the opposite—I approached it with curiosity from day one, and I think that mindset helped a lot.

Based on your work experience, what would you say to the companies or entrepreneurs looking to hire in the Balkan region? What makes talents from the Balkans stand out?

I think what sets people from the Balkans apart is their adaptability; We have strong language skills, a good grasp of Western pop culture, and a broad outlook on life. When combined with hard work and focus, we’ll learn quickly even if we don’t have specific knowledge initially. It’s this drive to constantly improve and prove ourselves that sets Balkan talent apart.
